Introduction

NS Basic/Symbian OS is a complete development environment, consisting of an IDE, a compiler and an integrated project builder. The apps it creates will run on any Symbian OS device using Series 60 3rd Edition or UIQ 3.

The programming language is a modern, structured version of BASIC, similar to Visual Basic. The IDE also has the look and feel of the VB IDE.

NS Basic/Symbian OS has two versions:

  • Standard Edition: produces a self signed installer, intended for personal use and limited distribution apps.
  • Pro Edition: also produces an unsigned installer, which can then be signed according to the guidelines in Symbian Signed.
